Fluctuations In Prices Of Containers For Sale
It may come as a surprise to anyone out there looking at the prices of containers for sale just how much they can vary from month to month and from one year to the next. There aren’t really any hard and fast rules that make it easy to predict.
Prices are a little cheaper than this time last year but still high when compared to 5 or 6 years ago. The main drivers being the cost of steel, factory output and the amount of equipment sitting on the ground at the time you are looking to buy.
Raw material prices and global economics aside there are ways to buy a cheap shipping container. Firstly when buying a box and speaking to a depot explain to them what you are using it for. If you are only looking for something cheap and cheerful that is basically dry and lockable to sit out the back, keep your goods in storage and out of harms way, then tell them. It’s pointless paying a premium for a cargoworthy, CSC plated container that’s certified for export when you’re never going to ship it.
Another way to save money if you are buying multiple containers is to take as many as possible at the same time. You may be offered a bulk discount and save on transportation costs.
If you have a custom conversion requirement for your container then run this by them too. If you are looking to remove all or part of a side for example the depot may have a unit with a damaged side they could offer at a reduced price.
